Lets start with the pregame festivities. The Fire were in
town, so of course Fireplanet had arranged for several buses
of fans to unload in the center of Amsterdam and descend on
the Globe and Teasers as per usual.
|

The Globe had put fences around the canal, to prevent the Fire fans from accidentally wandering in

Teasers was once again packed with Burgundy fans

These Fire fans must be looking for their offense...

Offense

Scored more points than the opposition.
Passing was good, no interceptions all game long. Two sacks, so
pass protection could be a bit better. The really good news of the night
was that the Admirals finally appear to have a viable running attack!
Both Smith and Payton ran for 6+ average yards a carry.
Defense

2 Sacks, two picks, one returned for a touchdown. Keep it up.
Special Teams

The only real downside of the evening. Two missed fieldgoals is just terrible.
The extra six points would have reflected the relative strengths of the teams much better.
Coaching

Another four shovels? Well... mainly because of the amazing double pass near the end (Hamdan handing off to Payton, Payton passing
back to Hamdam, who passes to Donald in the endzone for six points). Amazing, because it
sure isn't in keeping with Andrus' usual conservative playcalling. It didn't just amaze me in
the stands either, it caught the entire Fire defense flat flooted.
Fan Support
Disappointing crowd for the opening game and against Fire too. Really hope we can improve on the 10k.
