Week 4
Galaxy @ Admirals 16-20
By: Teflon. |
What a nail-biter! We have seen quite a few of this kind of game in the ArenA. I am beginning to fear for my health.
Offense

"Two shovels? But they won!"
Yes, but they only scored 20 points. The worst stat being that there were exactly zero points scored off two Galaxy turnovers. The running game was non existent with 20 attempts
for only 54 yards. Small bright spot: Reese had a nice 5.1 yard average with his 7 carries.
But a successful team needs a solid running game. This is not solid, this is sad.
Passing was very decent, with Hill doing nicely. I think this was more due to the Galaxy being very unsettled than anything else however. The Offense needs work.
Defense

4 sacks, another pick, only 77 yards rushing... If the Offense was
as solid as the Defense, we'd be in great shape. Still, there were a couple of passes that went for a long gain. I wish the referee spotted the holding on one of them... Oh well, no further comments. Keep it up.
Special Teams

Another area of the team that needs to improve. Two missed field goals, although one was a very long one. Punting distance is still not good enough. Punt and kick return averages are consistently less than that of our opponents. The team cannot rely on the defense all the time to make up for giving the other side good field position.
Coaching

Won the game. Kept the team from making big mistakes, kept them focused up to the end. Especially when compared to the Galaxy who were clearly not as concentrated. The Admirals only had 5 flags thrown against them, which is a welcome change from the past. I remember an average of 10 to be normal...
Fan Support
Crowd was on the small side with barely 10k. A decent amount of noise which cost the Galaxy at least two turnovers, something Graber actually mentioned during the press conference afterwards. Considering the fact that the Galaxy had no time outs left on their final drive and were forced to attempt a four point field goal to tie the game... With a time out, that would have been at least one more shot at the endzone. So keep making that noise! It makes a difference. Those 139 yards the Galaxy gave up in penalties were also not because they felt comfortable and settled in our ArenA...
