"I am not one of those buggers that takes the bus home right after
the game, but I don't feel like sleeping under a bridge in Amsterdam"

| Have you ever muttered this to yourself? Then mutter no more! The
Trench Crew is here to help. We will try to cram as much information about
hotels and hostels in here as possible. Many of which has been thoughtfully
provided by other travelling fans such as yourself. Please send us an email
if you think you have some useful information that we should add here through
the feedback page above. |
General information from the Trench Crew.
There are a huge deal of hotels in Amsterdam and since it is a fairly compact
city, most of them are either in or very close to the city center.
Queen's Day: Foreigners please note that 30th of April is a huge national holiday!
Starting the night before, the center will be *packed* full of people wearing
orange gear and drinking. Kind of like a one-sided World Bowl, but with
a *lot* more people... Book a hotel extremely early if you want to come
to town within a few days of this date! It is great fun though and definitely
worth hanging around for.
If you need more general information on Amsterdam, check out one of our
other guides.
Booking a hotel: A lot of hotels can be booked online, most of the Amsterdam tourist pages (several are on our links list) provide entrance points to online hotel selection and booking. If you get a hotel that is near any of these places, you will be right in the center of Amsterdam: centraal station, Dam square, Munt square, Leidseplein, Rokin, Kalverstraat. Don't look for a hotel near the ArenA itself as the stadium is out of
the city center. Check the description of the hotel, they will tell you
where they are located approximately. For your convenience, we have also
included links to several of the hotel information sites:
Quality of hotels: You get what you pay for. Hotels range from dirt cheap (€ 40 or
less a night for a double room) to those with solid gold toilet seats.
In general, we recommend avoiding the absolute bottom as they are simple
youth hostels which are often not very theft-safe and usually quite noisy.
We have heard good stories about the 'Amstel Botel'. It is located right in the center, behind the central station and has become quite popular with Scottish and English fans. Visit their website. The Globe (see our Pubs guide) is also a hotel, reasonably cheap and ideally located. Stagger right into your bed after the night's party! However, several fans have had unfortunate experiences with theft from their rooms so keep this in mind. Visit their website through our links page.
